Do you know your blood pressure numbers?

Earlier this year, you may have seen that Everybody Health & Leisure invested in self-testing blood pressure machines, providing their customers, staff and the public the opportunity to check their own blood pressure on Everybody’s self-screening blood pressure machine.

Donna Williamson, Senior Health Innovation Manager at Everybody Health & Leisure shared:

“The self-testing machines have been extremely popular and we are proud to have invested in them to enable residents to self-monitor. Allowing them to understand and monitor their numbers, helping detect and diagnose high blood pressure, known as hypertension. Hypertension is an important public health challenge because of its high prevalence and associated risk of cardiovascular disease. Having a quick test is the only way to find out what your blood pressure is, which could potentially save your life.”

Monday 2nd – 8th September 2024 is Blood Pressure UK’s Know Your Numbers! Week and Everybody are encouraging residents to find out what their blood pressure numbers are, information will also be available on what the numbers mean and what to do if you have raised blood pressure. Everybody’s self-testing machines are available all year round, so you can come and visit their centres any time they are open to regularly monitor your blood pressure.

Self testing machines are available at:

There is no need to book, you can just turn up during facility opening hours to check your own blood pressure. Please be aware blood pressure checks are for 18 years and above.

Here is Everybody Health Referral Lead Gavin showing you how to use the machines:

Notes to Editor

Blood Pressure UK share:

“With the everyday pressures of life, we know that understanding why it’s important to know your blood pressure numbers and taking the time to get them measured isn’t always a priority. However, did you know that getting a blood pressure check is the first step to preventing heart attacks and strokes? High blood pressure is a major cause of these diseases but usually has no symptoms until it’s too late, which is why it’s known as ‘the silent killer’. Knowing your numbers means you can start making healthy lifestyle changes or start taking medicines if you need them to bring your blood pressure down to a healthy level. So the power is in your hands to check your blood pressure to see if it’s under control.”
