Everybody Health and Leisure are excited to announce the opening of the newly refurbished Congleton Leisure Centre, in partnership with Cheshire East Council. Everybody hosted a VIP opening ceremony which took place on Wednesday, 28th June, where Ann Brightwell MBE, the 1960s GB Olympic gold medallist cut the ribbon, together with the mayor of Cheshire East, Councillor Rod Fletcher.
So, what can members expect to see in the complete redevelopment of Congleton Leisure Centre?
Starting with the fitness suite, it boasts a spacious two story, 100 station gym, kitted out with industry leading Technogym equipment. Encompassing all aspects of training including, dedicated strength, conditioning, resistance, functional, cardio and stretching areas, all working towards an improved health and fitness experience.
Thomas Barton, chief executive of Everybody Health and Leisure, shared:
“We are delighted to open the doors to a brand-new, much improved Congleton Leisure Centre, welcoming our members and the local community back. Starting off with over 1000 children booked to learn to swim within the first week, hundreds of memberships sold already and the opportunity for local residents to visit and experience the facilities at their convenience, making the long term commitment to their health and fitness goals.”
Councillor Mick Warren, Chair of Cheshire East Council’s Environment and Communities Committee, said:
“I have had the opportunity to look round this refurbished leisure centre and the end result is first class. Yes, we encountered a few hurdles on the way, including the Covid pandemic, but we are here now and the newly revamped Congleton Leisure Centre is now complete and represents yet another milestone achievement for Cheshire East Council and Everybody Health and Leisure. I am sure all those using the centre will be impressed with its amazing facilities and will accept that it’s been well worth the wait.”
Ann Brightwell MBE shared her thoughts on the new facility:
“I am honoured to have been invited to cut the ribbon at the opening of Congleton Leisure Centre. Having had a preview of the facilities, I can promise the residents of Congleton and the surrounding areas, it is a magnificent facility and I believe it will become a vital Community Sports and Social Centre for all ages.”
Congleton Leisure Centre members are kept active and motivated with over 50 health and fitness classes including instructor-led and virtual and a dedicated group cycling studio.
