#EverybodyMoments We celebrate 6 years as an independent Charity!

By jadegriffin May 1, 2020

It’s our 6th birthday!  As we take a look back at our most memorable achievements over the years, it goes without saying that we wouldn’t be where we are today without the loyalty and support from our valued Everybody members. You are what makes us Everybody Sport and Recreation and we couldn’t do it without you all – we are excited to bring you even more in the coming years… but first, let’s take a look back.

2014

We launched on the 1st of May as an independent ‘not for profit’ organisation with charitable status. Our simple vision of providing ‘leisure for life’, aimed to help people live well for longer.

We held our first ever Everybody Awards, celebrating our local heroes and all their achievements. This would become one of biggest events in the calendar!

We completed the #EverybodyChallenge, did you? We encouraged people to take part in 30 minutes of activity 5 times a week.

2015

This was the year that we launched our personal training, initially starting in Wilmslow. Shavington and Macclesfield, our personal training offer has helped so many people in their journey to become fit and healthy, our highly talented health and fitness advisors have made it possible for us to support so many people on their journeys.

We launched our Everybody Academy! The academy provides a wide range of leisure and general training opportunities offering qualifications from entry-level to advanced courses.  The introduction of the Academy also allowed us to bring in our apprentices who have been so successful in the business!

2016

2016 was the year of new facilities! The 1st of April saw the arrival of the brand new state of the art Crewe Lifestyle Centre – fit with swimming pool, world class fitness suite and café. October saw the re-opening of Holmes Chapel Community Centre – the site featured our brand new Taste for Life Café and Bar, as well an amazing fitness suite, function rooms and the Everybody Academy Training Suite.

Everybody Sport and Recreation received the ‘Investors in People’ award which leads the drive for better leadership and better workplaces.

2017

Our volunteers are had clocked up 20,000 hours of volunteering since 2014. We revealed our long term goal of 40,000 hours by 2020 and we are well on our way. Our volunteers work so hard, and their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

The launch of the Everybody Foundation, it was created to offer grants and assistance to fund individuals and groups who promote active and healthy lifestyles. Applicants can receive up to £500 in funding. Our funding has supported many people and groups, from snowboarders, Para athletes, sports clubs and charities, and we intend to continue supporting as much as we can.

2018

February of this year saw the arrival of ‘ESCAPE-pain’. A funded programme awarded through the Health Innovation Network and from funding from the National Lottery has allowed us to help a lot of people dealing with chronic hip and joint pain.

Macclesfield’s brand new re-development was announced. With changes including a brand new state of the art fitness suite, swimming pool, spa and village changing rooms.

2019

We opened the incredible Everybody@Alderley Park which includes a new gym, studio and the first Les Mill The Trip immersive cycle studio in Cheshire!

Approval was granted for the 5 towns investment scheme including redevelopment projects planned for Poynton, Nantwich, Middlewich, Knutsford and Wilmslow over the next few years.

We welcomed Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson to host our Everybody Awards, she was an inspiration to all guests and nominees in our new venue of Crewe Hall.

Everybody Sport and Recreation was named Employer of the Year at the North East Cheshire Business Awards for our ongoing commitment to our staff wellbeing and development.

2020 and the future of Everybody…

We had a great start to the year with some highlights including the re-opening of Alsager Leisure Centre following a refurbishment and our brand new Sports Hub along with works beginning at the Barony Sports Complex as part of the 5 towns investment scheme.

Sadly, our doors closed in March due to the pandemic of coronavirus – but we were quick to adapt and have now welcomed over 4500 people into our online group fitness classes on Facebook and are keeping in touch with as many of our customers as we can to share advice and support during these difficult times.

We are looking forward to opening the doors again, whenever that may be, to celebrate with you all.

In the meantime what are your favourite Everybody memories? Share them with us on our social media channels EBLeisure on Twitter. EBLeisure on Instagram and Everybody Sport and Recreation on Facebook.
